President's Welcome

Dear New Students,

A very warm welcome to all of you to The Education University of Hong Kong family!

You are starting a new chapter in your life as you embark on a different learning journey, during which your minds will be opened and your intellect stimulated through a myriad of ideas and thoughts. The entire EdUHK community is here to support you to achieve a fruitful university journey.

University life brings you boundless possibilities. I hope you will actively be immersed in your studies and co-curricular activities, as well as learn from different perspectives to equip yourselves to become professional, caring and innovative educators or future leaders.

There is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused so much disruption to normal life around the world. Universities are no exception. However, I believe there are many reasons for optimism, as we have overcome so many challenges in the past. You deserve great credit for your resilience and perseverance over the past few months, given the uncertainty arising from class interruptions and the delayed DSE examinations.

The University has also responded positively to the challenges, with compassion and flexibility, yet without compromising our commitment to quality learning and teaching. With your health and safety in mind, teaching in the first semester of Year 2020/21 will be predominately conducted online. We will be with you every step of the way and your faculty and course teachers will be communicating with you regarding class schedules and arrangements. You will have our full support.

This orientation website encompasses information tailored for new students, ranging from orientation activities, academic support services to university life planning. Please take a look at the website and make full use of the resources available to you to embark on a vibrant university life.

Make your life and study at EdUHK rewarding and fruitful. I wish you the very best in your new adventures!

Professor Stephen Y. L. Cheung
